Special Shapes
Standard Label Stock
Labels can be printed on different stocks, and stocks can have a variety of
adhesives. It is very important to select the right combination of stock and
adhesive for your application if you are planning to use the label for other than
a standard paper-on-paper application.
The following is a brief description of the characteristics of each type of stock
available. Please request a sample for testing in any application not
specifically recommended.
White High Gloss: For high quality labels with a lustrous appearance. Used when
it is not necessary to write or type on the label.
EDP: A white uncoated bleached smudge-resistant stock. Meets high speed
requirements of data systems market.
Fluorescent: This matte coated paper is used for eye- catching, attention-getting
effect. Available in a variety of colours (red, orange, green, pink, chartreuse).
Black ink is recommended.
Foil: Foil is laminated to paper, available in gold or silver, with a shiny or
dull appearance. It can be used for sizzling effects when it is not necessary to
write on a label.
Drum Vinyl: Vinyl is durable, weather resistant and can be used indoors or
outdoors as well as in some harsh environments. Vinyl is available with permanent
adhesive.
Polyester: this is a highly durable synthetic film used primarily for outdoor
applications and situations involving high levels of abrasion or abuse such as
product identification. It will also resist most oils and solvents.
Thermal: Thermal transfer and Direct thermal stocks are guaranteed to be
compatible with leading printers and scales. The ultra smooth surface and special
adhesives allow excellent scanning and instant adherence to corrugated boxes and
shrink wrap film.
Copy Label: A 50# EDP facestock in a "piggyback" construction with a superior
image producing middle liner.
Laser Label: A smooth but receptive paper which accepts and holds laser toner for
crisp, quality imaging, without scattering, smearing or smudging. Available with
permanent or removable adhesives engineered to resist flowing, oozing, or flaking
due to the temperatures found in typical laser printers. A unique layflat liner
that ensures proper feeding with no jamming.
Label Adhesives
Permanent: Features a high initial tack and excellent bond strength. Minimum
application temperature is 40° F. Permanent adhesive is supplied unless otherwise
requested. Available in all stocks.
Removable Adhesive: Allows the label to be removed after application. Available
in a variety of different face stocks.
Freezer Adhesive: Designed primarily for application to surfaces that will be
exposed to freezing temperatures, also works well in high temperature situations.
Application temperature down to -10° F. Works between -65° F to +200° F.
Blockout (opaque) Adhesive: A coloured adhesive used to "cover up". Performs as a
permanent adhesive. Available in white gloss only.
High Tac: Highly aggressive permanent adhesive designed for use on special
surfaces such as textures or unfinished wood (eg: pallets).

Lamination, Varnish, and UV Coatings
1 mil Polypropylene Lamination: A low cost, clear over laminate offering
excellent abrasion and good solvent resistance. A good choice for short-term
outdoor products and indoor applications where the best possible abrasion
resistance is required.
Standard Varnish: A high gloss, low abrasion resistant varnish.
UV Overprint: An extremely high gloss overprint, cured by ultraviolet lamps,
which offers abrasion, water and mild solvent resistance. Excellent for prime
labels or wherever a quality appearance is required.
